State of Florida Annual Report and Sales Tax Due Date Changes
Florida Annual Report
The Florida Department of State has extended the filing deadline for annual reports to June 30, 2020. Companies will have until 12:01 am on July 1,2020, before a $400 late fee is assessed. For more information, visit their website.
Florida Sales & Use Tax and Tourist Development Tax
The Florida Department of Revenue has extended filing deadlines for February and March reporting periods for sales & use tax and tourist development tax for Florida businesses.
For taxes collected in February 2020, the due date has been extended from March 20 to March 31, 2020, for all taxpayers.
For taxes collected in March 2020, the due date has been extended from April 20 to April 30,2020, for taxpayers adversely affected by the COVID-19 outbreak. Taxpayers not adversely affected by the COVID-19 outbreak are still required to pay by April 20.
A taxpayer is adversely affected if they meet any of the following conditions:
- The business closed in March 2020 in compliance with a state or local government order issued in response to the COVID-19 outbreak and following the closure had no taxable transactions for the taxes listed above.
- The business experienced sales tax collections in March 2020 that are less than 75% of March 2019 sales tax collections.
- The business was established after March 2019.
- The business is registered with the Department to file quarterly.
